Hometown Glory – Part Four: Help a London Child

part three of the Hometown Glory series, so I’m excited to share this one with you!

So let me guess, you’ve eaten ridiculous amounts of your favourite sugary and salty (but oh so delicious) food, you’ve slept in late enough each day that getting dressed seemed pointless, you’ve watched your entire movie collection, you’ve grumbled at the stupid story-line Eastenders went with on Christmas day (what a letdown…), and you’ve abandoned any thoughts of going back to work in the real world.

You’ve enjoyed your holiday and are now prepping for the New Year with resolutions you wont be keeping. Fantastic, you successfully enjoyed the season in all its commercialised glory! :-D

However the same isn’t true of others over the world and we all know this. As you may already know, these ‘Hometown Glory’ posts refer to my Hometown; Hammersmith – Today though, I’ve decided to extend as far as the whole capital…

I first heard about this particular ‘text to donate’  service  relating to Helping Children in London.
A few weeks ago on LBC during an ad-break and I’m really glad I did. These charities provide support for young people in the UK who need it the most!

From young carers who sacrifice large amounts of their time to care for those in their families suffering with an illness or a disability, to homeless youths who have no shelter and so have no choice but to live on the streets – There is a lot of help to give!

Donate today by texting the word CARER to send a one-off amount of £5 to help make a difference to someone’s life. (Network rates as seen on LBC below)

Dreama’s Interview with Ruth Barnes on Amazing Radio!

Ooh how exciting! :-D I was lucky enough to catch up with female-music guru Ruth Barnes of The Other Woman in my hometown of Hammersmith!

We had a chat about my musical journey so far & my plans for the future, and the interview was played yesterday as part of Ruth’s regular Sunday show on Amazing Radio.

I’ve also got this cool badge for having my music played on the show over the last few months, which is a nice little bonus! ;-) – For those of you that missed the show, be sure to have a listen to the interview below the badge! Enjoy!

Dreama: on Christmas

Bah Humbug? No…well, maybe just a tad – but only because I’ve come to realise it isn’t about me running to the tree first thing in search of the pressies I’ve been hinting at all year  any more…

Now it’s more like me struggling for breath in the crowds in Westfields, listening to some stressed out employee tell me they’re sold out. I do feel Christmassy though :-D  - here are some things I’ve seen recently, that have put me in the Christmas spirit:

Christmas Past (…as seen online last month)

Lil Wayne & his YMCMB crew doing the charitable thing & handing out Christmas food in his hometown of New Orleans:

Christmas Present (…currently on rotation on the tele)

This beautiful song (Please, Please, Please… – Slow Moving Millie) & advert for John Lewis:

Christmas Future (…Sky+’d for an hour from 9pm on Christmas day!)

Having made it to December 16th & not having been told the story-line for the Xmas day Eastenders by some opportunist online.

Yep – judge all you want, but the not knowing feels like the way to go this year – I’ve heard rumours about everyone from Heather to Pat (I think it’s Pat that’s the weakest link this year :-o ) but nothing is confirmed & that suits me just fine…lol!

I know these are random, but Christmas is a time for sharing :-) – so what’s gotten you all Christmassy this year?

Don’t forget to check out this awesome competition → enter for a chance to win yourself a pair of exclusive Adidas Originals!

COMPETITION: Win an exclusive pair of Adidas “Decade” Kicks!

It’s officially advent, and I’m feeling generous! :-D

If you’ve been watching, you’ll already have noted my intense love for the beautiful brand that  Adolf Dassler created. Now, I have these limited edition Adidas Decade lo-tops (for women, size 5.5 UK and 7 US) that are brand spanking new and ready to be worn, and I decided that instead of keeping them for myself, I’d actually give them away – I know, that’s bonkers right?

This being a competition, of course there’s a few questions you need to answer first ;-) – and they wont be a Google job either, these questions are a little more personal to me which means you’ll have to have been watching closely (or be a really good guesser) to get the answers right!

Questions:

  1. I love a cuppa (a cup of tea) :-D  - and I have two favourite mugs featuring characters from Winnie the Pooh – Which two characters are these?
  2. Which (trashy) TV Soap do I make an effort not to miss?
  3. I love live music concerts! – Can you name 3 artists I have seen in concert this year?
  4. I ran into a football player back in September of this year & posted the piccy online – who was he and which football team does the  man in question play for?
Clue: Try having a little look at some of my older blog posts, as well as some of the social media sites I use (Facebook, Twitter etc…)

Send your answers and your name using the contact form above or by clicking here - Good luck! :-D

Dreama on ‘BBC Introducing with Tom Robinson’ – BBC Radio 6!

Whoa! – Early this morning, I was on radio show BBC introducing with the awesome Tom Robinson & the amazing Ruth Barnes! :-D If you didn’t already know, this brilliant show is one that helps to bring emerging artists to the forefront by showcasing exciting new talent and thankfully,  these guys agree that this classification applies to me! I even got a cool little badge which you can see below – the feature is just beneath the badge – be sure to have a listen! ;-) Thank you.

A Future Where Robots Rule? Don’t Joke, It’s Real…

…and you thought iRobot was just a film? Ha! Sorry, excuse my cheeky introduction, but on the news this morning I was really interested in the story on the exhibition of 20 working robots currently being displayed in London’s famous Science Museum as part of the Robotville Festival.

As a child I remember going there a few times and then even as an adolescent, it’s quite cool! 8-)

Anyway, the correspondent was on about these robots being able to display emotion (or that being something their designers are working on for the future) which (if you love a conspiracy :-P ) is of course code for, they probably exist somewhere already but only very rich people have access to the actual “Sonny” kind.

Check them out in the video below:

Cool? Scary? Science going too far? Perhaps all of these are correct. On the news, they mentioned that simple tasks such as babysitting may be something the robots could “help” with in the future…who would leave their child with one of these? I started thinking about computers in general, and how they crash, or stop working when they catch a virus for instance. What would be the equivalent of one of these “Sonny’s” catching a virus, it destroying your car? It acting violently? It holding YOU hostage in your own home…? 8-O

Then I remembered seeing this advert on the TV a few times and although it always made me giggle, it also always made me think…

Haha! – I know right? – You only have to look at what gets us into the movie theatre’s faster than you can say “popcorn” these days to see a trend in people clearly wanting this, think Blade Runner, Robocop, The Terminator, Artificial Intelligence and Wall-E to name a few.

Now of course, the idea of the robot pre-dates the Hollywood movies above. Check out the infographic below for some cool information relating to them – click the image to see and even bigger version:

…Of course, We Mustn’t Forget Siri!

…and if you’re into the iPhone, you’ll know about this (notice I didn’t say him/her).

I don’t have an iPhone, but from what I’ve heard, this feature is pretty ‘out there’ when it comes to technology, you literally can just sit and ask your phone questions about where you are, whether it will rain next Tuesday and what’s in the fridge downstairs…(Totally made that last one up, but wait till the update that’s all I’m saying! )

So tell me folks, what do you think; are we evolving into a world of living in harmony with Robots? Or…are we already there?
