Happy New Year!

As a new year moves in, kicks up it’s feet and get’s acquainted with us, we wave farewell to 2012.

And an amazing 2012 it was! As a country, the UK has had everything from a Diamond Jubilee, to the London Olympics; which caused unified celebrations and weeks of plastered on smiles that even The Joker would be proud of.

And then there’s the music. In 2012, for me there have been plenty of gorgeous milestones of which I’m very thankful.

I’m thankful that these musical achievements have been embraced and fueled by fans of my music.

I’m thankful for the comments, “likes”, follows, views and live show attendee’s.

I’m thankful to people who have written about and played my music for others.

I’m thankful for being able to release new music and video throughout the year.

So thank you, to everyone that has been a part of my music journey so far – and here’s to an amazing 2013! Cheers! ;-)

As it’s the beginning of a brand new month, I felt there was no better time to update you on what I’ve been up to lately…

Recent releases…

My 4-track EP REIFIER (released on April 30th) has had some great feedback and I wanted to officially say thank you! :-D So thank you, to everyone of you that listened to it, shared it with friends, posted about it, rated it, purchased it online and gave me feedback. You guys rock! :-D

The video for CTRL+ALT+DEL (track 4) was also very well received which is really exciting! I thought I’d leave the links here once again for anyone that might not have seen or heard them yet.

As you know, back in March, I flew to Sweden to perform (the image above is of me with some Swedish/Congolese dancers who also performed).

It was great fun & I hoped to get some footage & images to you that were recorded on the night, but unfortunately due to issues with the technical people at the event, I still haven’t been sent anything to show you. That sucks :-| but there’s nothing I can do about it and anyway, the main point of going to Sweden was to raise money for charity which it was and I’m really pleased that I was a part of achieving that!

Remember the Adidas competition I had running from earlier this year in January? There was a winner! Her name is Cordel and she is from South London! :-) Cordel was lucky enough to win the exclusive Adidas Decade trainers with the limited edition keyring!

Here’s her reaction after finding out she won:

I was hoping to have a picture of her to go along with the tweet, which was one of the reasons for the hold up, but I thought it was important to share this for everybody that entered (and anybody wondering whether or not there was a winner) . A huge thank you to everybody that did enter and that publicized the competition for me. Entrants really got creative with their answers so there were lots of giggles when selecting a winner! :-D

Dreama headed to Sweden for charity event

‘I Am a Star‘ is a movement originally started in Minneapolis, USA by the American Refugee Committee aiming to help tackle the very real problem of the food and drought crisis in Somalia.

The campaign encourages people everywhere to use their time to effectively devise ways to raise money for those suffering.

Here is a short video about the project:

I am especially excited to announce that fellow musician Sherrisa, has organised a concert in this charity’s honor to help raise both funds and awareness – and, I have been asked to come and perform! - What’s more, the event, which will take place on Wednesday March 28th, at Södertörn University, is located Sweden’s beautiful capital city, Stockholm! :-D

Of course I am completely honored to have been asked to be a part of this and as you may remember from an earlier post of mine, being charitable is something I care very much about.

Every penny raised from this event in Sweden will be sent to the ‘I Am a Star’ campaign, which I am told has a dedicated team in Banadir Hospital in Somalia who work to provide medical facilities for the people in need.

I’m sure you’ll agree that the ‘I Am a Star’ movement is a great one, and below are some links that provide information about how you can get involved and be a star for Somalia too:

Camden Calling Presents | Urban Beatfare

Yesterday evening, I was honored to be apart of an event set-up by Camden Calling, described in their own words as ‘a social enterprise run collectively with homeless and ex-homeless people whom put their problems aside to host live music events for a mainstream audience.‘

Although responsible for a whole host of goodies, Camden Calling host a monthly event called The Urban Beatfare specifically for all things hip-hop! I took part in yesterday’s open mic (which is a contest held as an additional part of the main event) and I won!

Part of the win was that I got to take home this lovely T-shirt! :-D

…and if that wasn’t enough, I’ve also been given the chance to open the next show with a full set which will take place on 1st April at The Enterprise! I’m really looking forward to it & I hope you’ll join me – not only is this a night of  great live music & fun, you’ll also be supporting a good cause as the proceeds go to the people most in need – Come & get involved!
