Hometown Glory – Part Five: Nando’s is coming to Hammersmith!

Now I know it’s been a while since my last hometown glory post, but folks, I have big news!!! – Nando’s is coming to the ends! :-D

I just came across this bit of glorious news nosing through our local paper, The Fulham Chronicle and it seems, if all goes to plan by the end of the year, ‘smith could be hooked right up with some of the best flame grilled chicken there is in London.

…& my friends, if that ain’t hometown glory – I don’t know what is! ;-)

Hometown Glory – Part Four: Help a London Child

Ahoy there! (Yeah, I watched ‘Hook’ over the holidays :-P ) – It’s been a minute since part three of the Hometown Glory series, so I’m excited to share this one with you!

So let me guess, you’ve eaten ridiculous amounts of your favourite sugary and salty (but oh so delicious) food, you’ve slept in late enough each day that getting dressed seemed pointless, you’ve watched your entire movie collection, you’ve grumbled at the stupid story-line Eastenders went with on Christmas day (what a letdown…), and you’ve abandoned any thoughts of going back to work in the real world…You’ve enjoyed your holiday and are now prepping for the New Year with resolutions you wont be keeping. Fantastic, you successfully enjoyed the season in all its commercialised glory! :-D

However the same isn’t true of others over the world and we all know this. As you may already know, these ‘Hometown Glory’ posts refer to my Hometown; Hammersmith – Today though, I’ve decided to extend as far as the whole capital…I first heard about this particular ‘text to donate’  service  relating to Helping Children in London a few weeks ago on LBC during an ad-break and I’m really glad I did. These charities provide support for young people in the UK who need it the most!

From young carers who sacrifice large amounts of their time to care for those in their families suffering with an illness or a disability, to homeless youths who have no shelter and so have no choice but to live on the streets – There is a lot of help to give! - Donate today by texting the word CARER to 70100 & send a one-off amount of £5 to help make a difference to someone’s life. ♡ (Network rates as seen on LBC below)

Dreama’s Interview with Ruth Barnes on Amazing Radio!

Ooh how exciting! :-D I was lucky enough to catch up with female-music guru Ruth Barnes of The Other Woman in my hometown of Hammersmith! We had a chat about my musical journey so far & my plans for the future, and the interview was played yesterday as part of Ruth’s regular Sunday show on Amazing Radio. I’ve also got this cool badge for having my music played on the show over the last few months, which is a nice little bonus! ;-) – For those of you that missed the show, be sure to have a listen to the interview below the badge! Enjoy!

Hometown Glory – Part Three: Hammersmith, What’s It Made Of?

The previous post in the Hometown Glory series looked at some of the wonderful pieces of architecture standing proud in and around Hammersmith. After getting some great feedback on that, I thought I’d go into a little more detail this time around by talking about where Hammersmith is in London, and what it is partner to. Check out the map below…

…As you can see, Hammersmith seems quite small in the grand scheme – especially when looking at all of the individual borough’s in London. However as Hammersmith is part of the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in west London (and although the sign above says W12, our postcode is actually W6), the two tie together to contain 13 different districts. These are:

Brook Green
College Park
East Acton
Fulham
Hammersmith
Hurlingham
Old Oak Common
Parsons Green
Sands End
Shepherd’s Bush
Walham Green
West Kensington
White City

Check out the collage I put together below. Each picture is from a different district. I tried to pick ones that show all aspects of the culture, from the travel & tourism, to lifestyle & leisure. :-) See if you can match each photo with a district…(there might even be a prize for the winner…)

I hope you enjoyed that little peak into the borough…Click here for part four!

Hometown Glory – Part Two: Who Needs Paris?

As promised, here is the sequel to part one of this post, where I gave you a little glimpse of some of my favourite scenes & places in Hammersmith - My hometown! I did promise to return with some newness, and I thought the perfect way to do that was to share with you my love of architecture.

You know how some people spot trains? – well I sometimes sort of spot buildings…that sounds slightly weird, (haha! :-P ) but I just really admire classicly built structures, they just give so much character to a location, just like the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower do in Paris…anyway, who needs Paris when I have Hammersmith? :-D Check out the piccys below & let me know what you think:

…In these Starbucks mango-passion-fruit blended drinks!

Oh yeah!

I cannot get enough of them! No, they’re not new, yeah they’ve been around for a while – in-fact, it’s not even “new” that I love them – I just thought I’d share this with you in-case you wanted to try one, or more… :-D

Tell me what you think… – of course you can find them in your local Starbucks…and for randoms, here’s a piccy of my local:

Hometown Glory – Part One: A Proud Hammersmith-ian!

If  you didn’t already know, I’m proud to declare that I’m from Hammersmith, London :-D ) If you know the place, you may have seen some of its beautiful architecture already (& yes, of course I’m biased…), Today, I wanted to really open your eyes & share with you just some of what we Hammersmith-ians have to offer, in pictures – so here you go:

So, what do you think? When I look at these, they feel like ‘home’ :-) Be sure to look out for part two of this post, which will bring you more snippets & trivia about Hammersmith. Until then, love. ❤ xX
